Calling Jim
Pam picked up her phone, shaky since her exchange with Michael.  She couldn't believe that he would transfer her over something so stupid.  One thing was for certain, though:  Jim had to know immediately.  She knew that there would be nothing, ultimately, that Jim could do, but this was something that had the potential to put a major kink in their plans.

She listened to the line ring, willing him to answer.

Pam nodded, and then became aware that Jim couldn't hear it. "I've confirmed it with corporate. He...put the request in to have me transferred. He said that I was pushing too hard on the reports, and mentioned something about me becoming Toby. I don't know what to do, Jim. Corporate told me that I could either quit, or I could hope that he changes his mind and withdraws the request. I'm...not quitting, but i really don't think that i could talk to him right now without becoming really upset." She sniffed again, looking at her hand, then using her hand to swipe at a tear that had found its way onto her cheek.

"You know what?" he asked, getting rather angry at the thought of Michael even thinking of transfering Pam. "This is not going to happen. I'm going to talk to him in a little bit, everything will be sorted out. I'll make him actually listen to me, and not just hear my voice." Jim wasn't normally one to get upset, and everyone knew it. "Pam, don't worry, ok?"

Pam sniffed again. Her hero. "Thanks, Jim. For sorting this out. And for everything. You really are wonderful, you know that, right?"

He smiled. "I know," Jim said, chuckling a little. "I have to go, but we'll talk after I talk to Michael, alright?" This was clearly something he wasn't use to doing--stepping up to the boss. He could talk to Michael manager-a-assistant manager...that might work.

Pam smiled a little. "Okay. We'll talk later. I love you so much, Jim!" With that, she hung up and looked at her hands, where she focused on her engagement ring. She truly was the luckiest woman in the world.
