Conference (OPEN TO ALL)
Michael sat at his desk for a moment, tenting his fingers under his chin.  There were matters to be discussed within the office, and the best way to do it was to call a conference.  He wasn't sure yet what he was going to talk about, or if he was going to show a movie.  He thought intently for a while, picking up his train whistle and examining it.  After a moment, he knew what he was going to do.

He stood up and exited his office, standing just behind Jim.  He cleared his throat, "Alright everyone, listen up.  Conference time.  Everyone get into the meeting room, we have things to talk about.  Jen, I'm going to need you to take notes since Pam's not here.  She'll be on speaker phone."

He looked at his watch.  9:05am.  Time to begin.

Angela looked down at the large pile of paperwork on her desk. She sighed heavily as Michael announced a meeting in the conference room. 'Great' she thought. This was going to be another one of those days. She pushed her chair out from her desk and headed to the conference room, avoiding eye contact with Andy. She attempted to signal Dwight with her eyes, implying she wanted to sit next to him during the meeting.

Dwight noticed Angela's eye movement and sat next to her after looking around the room, making it look like he didn't want to sit anywhere else. "Angela," he said as he sat down with a slight nod. He had a flip notebook, part of his research for Michael, and waited for everyone to calm down and listen.

Michael looked over at the two employees sitting in his conference room. They made him a little bit uneasy, as though something unspoken were going on between them. He couldn't put his finger on what, though, or why two people would choose to sit so close to each other when there were plenty of free seats. "Angela, Dwight." He acknowledged, nodding. Phyllis, Oscar, Kevin, Andy, Creed, and Stanley began filtering into the conference room, Stanley with his crossword puzzles.

"Where's Jim and Jen?" Michael asked to no one in particular.

Pam had been sleeping, because she'd had a late class. She heard her phone ring a little bit after nine, and picked it up expecting it to be either her mother or Jim. "Mmmm...Hello?"
James "Jim" Halpertprankster_jim on August 12th, 2008 06:12 am (UTC)
"We're right here," Jim said as he and his sister filed into the conference room. He took a seat next to the phone. "Well good morning, Miss Beesley," he said softly to Pam through the phone. "Welcome to our meeting this morning." He chuckled and motioned for Jen to sit next to him.

Pam yawned and smiled at the sound of Jim's voice. She knew she was on speaker phone, so there wasn't much she felt that she could safely say. "This...I'm on the phone for a conference?" She sat up in bed, rubbing the sleep out of her eyes. "Do we know what it's about yet?"
James "Jim" Halpertprankster_jim on August 12th, 2008 08:20 pm (UTC)
"Not yet, but I'm sure it'll be important," Jim said dryly. He sat there, waiting patiently like he always did, for Michael to begin his presentation--or whatever it was he was going to do. He looked around the room, watching everyone's expressions. Oscar looked done with the conversation that hadn't even begun, Andy looked sullen, Dwight was about ready to take notes, and Stanley was still working on a crossword puzzle. How many words does he know, anyway?

"Alright, everyone, listen up." Michael waited for the room to quiet down, which didn't take long. "We have alot to talk about..." his voice became almost a whisper, "and we have tons of time to cover it..." He cleared his throat.

"The Dundees. It's that time again, and we'll be getting to that in just a second. What I really want to talk about is a call that I got this morning from the CDC. I don't think they know what they're talking about, but if you look out the windows right now, you'll see a bunch of people in white suits with masks. They're here to quarantine us." He looked at his beloved employees and waited a minute for the news to sink in. "Questions?"
pamela_beesly on August 12th, 2008 11:54 pm (UTC)
Pam sat in stunned silence for a moment. "Wait. Michael. A quarantine? For what?" She had snapped wide awake. This wasn't good. Especially if they were all now going to be trapped with Michael in the office. She was many miles away, and the only reason that she could think of for him to call her and put her on speaker phone for a conference is either if there was bad news, or he wanted to include her in the Dundees discussion.

Michael looked at the phone for a moment. "I can't...say. It's a disease that someone who works here came into work with. Who everyone here had contact with. I've handed out a memo, and if you were here, Pam, you'd have gotten one." He responded, looking down at his memo.

"Dwight. I have an assignment for you." He hunched down closer to Dwight so that he could whisper. "I want to know what everyone said when Holly asked them about their Job Satisfaction. We need to know our enemies if we're going to be trapped in here with them. It's a chance to redeem yourself, Dwight. Do you accept?"

Andy was looking at Michael, trying to turn his head in such a way that he could hear what was being said. He glared at Dwight.

"So," Michael said, straightening up, "how is everyone feeling? I need to know. I need to give the CDC updates."
James "Jim" Halpert: on phoneprankster_jim on August 16th, 2008 08:52 pm (UTC)
"Wait," Jim said abruptly, "you mean that we're all stuck in here? We can't go home." His mouth hung open, his eyes went back and forth from the phone to Michael, then back to the phone. This was insane.
thegreatscott on August 16th, 2008 11:43 pm (UTC)
"You are correct, Sir," Michael grinned, clapping his hands together. "That's what makes this so fun! We can come up with all sorts of ideas on how the Dundees should go this year! Don't look so gloomy. This is a good thing! I mean, how often do you get to be stuck with the people you love to work with?" Michael laughed to himself a little, and then realized no one else was doing the same.

"Come on, guys. It'll be fun. You won't even realize that we've been in this place for however long it's going to be at the end. Plus, I get some time away from Jan..."
pamela_beesly on August 16th, 2008 11:50 pm (UTC)
Pam was still shocked when her land line rang. She looked at it for a moment, and said, "Hold on, guys. My other phone is ringing." She ran to get it, and it was the CDC. "What? Yes, I was in Scranton this past weekend. Oh no. OH no. For how long? But...why? Okay...um...please keep me updated? Okay, bye." She hung up the land line and came back.

"Guys, I've just been quarantined, too. I have to contact my professors and see what I can do about school. This is insane! Who would come into work that sick?!" She stared at her phone for a second. "Guys, can anyone tell me what is going on? I mean, like, none of you have any symptoms, right?"

kelkapour on August 29th, 2008 03:14 am (UTC)
"Oh my god," Kelly said. "I'm going to flip out. I have a date tonight!" She didn't actually have a date, but she was sure she'd be able to get one if she tried. She impatiently started wagging her foot. "Michael, is this a joke? 'cuz if it is, you're sick and twisted and I'll slap you again! "
pamela_beesly on August 29th, 2008 04:04 am (UTC)
Pam looked at her phone for a second. About time Kelly chimed in. Pam had been wondering why she was so quiet.

"Who are you dating? Tell me about him! And...don't slap Michael. I'm pretty sure that can get you fired."
kelkapour on August 29th, 2008 04:07 am (UTC)
Kelly hadn't been expecting that. "I'll call you later, Pam, I don't want to talk about this with--you know." She added the last part in a whisper, glancing at Michael, as if it did anything.
pamela_beesly on August 29th, 2008 02:03 pm (UTC)
Pam put her palm against her forehead. She wasn't used to meetings via telephone, and had almost forgotten that she was participating in one. "Oh...yeah, we'll...talk later. So Michael, This isn't really making much sense. Does anybody else think this makes sense? At all? Because I'm not sure how that employee could have worked if he was sick enough to require quarantine..."
